We are seriously in love with this place. In fact, we usually eat here at least twice when we're in town. Yeah, it's that good. Their hoagies are good and the pizza is awesome. You have to check out their menu. We haven't tried their calzones, but if they're anything like the pizza, they're super. No matter what time of day we've eaten here, we've never had to wait long.

The one in Gatlinburg is located across the street from Bubba Gump's in the Ole Smoky Moonshine plaza. The restaurant is upstairs, so to access it if you're handicap, go to the very back of the plaza where the moonshine tasting is (yeah, that's another post! LOL) and there is an elevator that is big enough for Sheri's scooter (and that's saying something). When you come off the elevator, just hang to the right and the entrance is near the street end of the building. They always see us coming and someone is always there to greet us and open the door, it doesn't seem to matter how busy they are.

Plenty of handicap space! And unlike many places in Gatlinburg, the restrooms are up to date in space for handicap folks.  There is also a Mellow Mushroom located in Pigeon Forge, almost directly across from The Christmas Place.

Gatlinburg here we come!

We arrived in Gatlinburg to sweltering hot weather of 105 degrees! Somehow I thought this would be a nice vacation break. It sounds like it would be cooler in the mountains, right? Gatlinburg, like the rest of the US, has been having record breaking high temperatures for the last two weeks.

After checking into our motel, and cranking the AC on HIGH, we decided to scooter around a bit and see what's changed since the last time we were in town. Naturally with the economy we've had the past few years, a few places have closed--it's always interesting to see what new places have taken their place. Every year I ask the same question: How many t-shirt places does one tourist town need? Apparently there's always room for one more. I saw this one in a Tennesee Jerky store and after my "ewwww, that's just wrong!" I had to snap a picture. Jerky stores are big in Gatlinburg and they sell your usual beef and turkey plus elk, trout, salmon, alligator, and other "wild" meats.

Sheri and I would l to express our apologies to everyone of our readers....having not posted for so long. We have cut back on our traveling a bit due to rising gas prices.

We have been to a few street festivals.....just have not gotten them posted here.

As of January 13, 2012 I (Jeff) have become a Vegetarian; yep it's true....and I am happy to report that I like it. I was on about 19 different medications....now I am only taking one.

Sheri and I have about an acre of land that is not being put to good use, so we are thinking of trying to homestead and grow most if not all of our own food...so the old truck that we used to pull the trailer and haul the scooters in is being retired for farm use.

The Van is doing fine (I need to get pictures posted) Sheri and I plan on traveling to health food fairs this spring and summer in VA.

We also have a new addition to the family... a 1 year old gray cat...pics to follow...

Pembroke Fall Heritage Festival

So this year we decided to check out our hometown festival. Sheri of course was checking out the competition on jewelry makers. Jeff was dreading the year she decides to start selling at these types of fairs and he has to set up and take down the tent and haul it all to the van. :)

Pembroke is a very small town in rural southwest Va and it was a small festival. But it was fun to scooter through and see who we knew.

They had vendors selling pumpkins and mums, tons of *stinky* candles (Jeff's description), two different jewelry makers (which Sheri promptly pointed out they were selling their crap waaaay overpriced), avon, various churches selling baked goods, handmade clothing for children, scarves in various "team colors", and homemade walking canes.

There was an antique car show also with quite a few entries.

They had horseshoe contests, dog show, arts & craft show, bingo, and rides in a real firetruck for kids.

Of course there was food! Hot dogs, greek food, pork skins, corndogs, bbq meats, snow cones, candied apples, kettle corn, and such.

This year the planners even sprung for a little "kiddies carnival" and had a few rides including a scrambler, ferris wheel, race car carousel, and some tilt-whirl thing that looked like it was guaranteed to help spew up all the junk food and hot dogs your kids just ate. ;)

It was really a hot day for October and it was obvious you would definitely need one of those pop-up tents over your spot if you were a seller. (Note to Jeff: don't forget this.) hehehe
